Just installed the new pot rack to free up under cabinet storage space. Dale lovingly slapped together this extremely long bar height table island thingy. We've since decided we will be cutting 2 feet off one side to use as a built in coffee and wine bar. To the new shorter table island thingy we'll be adding two more legs and the side apron trim. The aluminum barstools are stackable for easy storage.
A blog of our progress as we build a shipping container house for a home on our peaceful Texas Hill Country farm and vineyard. Our plan is to exist off the grid using a solar panels power station, wind turbines, batteries, inverters, and the like for our electricity. We have rain gutters and barrels in place for most of our water needs along with a large pond that stayed full even throughout the recent Texas droughts. We invite you to grab a big ole cup of coffee and follow along in the fun!

Antique Chair Makeover for Greenhouse
Before, I will be painting with exterior paint and reupholstering with sunbrella fabric. I'm leaning towards tangerine for the paint and a bright multi colored design for the seat.

Christmas Tree at the Container Home
Check Out the Great Room
This is the new room addition on the container house. It is 16 by 16, and we feel so cozy in here this winter. Last weekend we installed the wood burning stove, and it absolutely warmed the entire house perfectly during our very cold spell. Temperatures were dipping into the 20's in Smithville, Texas.

Large Room Addition to Shipping Container Home
BEFORE |
The line in the floor (below) is where we cut out the wall of the steel shipping container. The length we cut out is approximately 16 feet right through the middle of the 40 foot container, which was located under the air conditioner unit seen to the left in the "BEFORE" pic. The new open kitchen and living area is 16' by 16' and now has refrigerator, sink with sprayer, and microwave. Our double burner cook top is located on the front porch in the outdoor kitchen until we decide where we want to permanently install it inside the container home. It runs on propane, so the bottle must be outside. We built this bar height table island out of rejected cypress boards we rescued from our friends high end garage door manufacturing company. The 26" aluminum barstools are from overstock.com. The light fixtures are $7 shop lights with $20 LED lightbulbs.
