Off The Grid, Texas

A blog of our progress as we build a shipping container house for a home on our peaceful Texas Hill Country farm and vineyard. Our plan is to exist off the grid using a solar panels power station, wind turbines, batteries, inverters, and the like for our electricity. We have rain gutters and barrels in place for most of our water needs along with a large pond that stayed full even throughout the recent Texas droughts. Cutting Opening in Shipping Container

Cutting Shipping Container Steel

Kyle helping Dale cut the large wall opening in the steel shipping container which leads into the new large room addition. Kyle used a grinder to smooth out the sharp edges of the cut steel. It made a lot of dust and smoke with odors, but it cleared out in time for pot roast dinner! Chelsea, Walter and I spent the day outside fishing.
